My friends and I gave this exam last year at Anna University, Chennai and hope its quite useful to know our worth . last year there was no fee for this exam but this year the examination fee was  Rs 100/-.you will get certificates, medals, and scholarships .if many students are appearing from the same institute they will set up an examination centre nearby or else CHENNNAI is the best place.

why this exam and what is the benefit.

As per their official website ->

Sponsorship for PG education: As a gesture of encouragement to all the engineering students in India, and to promote further pursuit of technical education, IEO will be sponsoring the complete tuition fee for postgraduate studies for all the toppers of the senior (4th year) category.
